Help for the feeding problems nobody warns you about

Every family is different, so every consultation is too. Here's what I help with most often. If your situation isn't listed, ask anyway.

Newborn feeding

The first two weeks set the tone. I'll help with latch and positioning, show you how to read your baby's hunger cues, and explain the signs that tell you your baby is getting enough, so you can stop counting every minute on the clock.

Especially helpful after a C-section, a long labour, or if your baby was very sleepy or jaundiced in the first days.

NICU & premature babies

When your baby is in the NICU, expressed milk is one of the few things only you can give. We'll work on hand expression and pumping, building and protecting your supply, and skin-to-skin whenever it's allowed.

When your baby's team says it's time, I'll help you make the move to the breast gently and at your baby's pace.

Twins & more than one

Yes, you can breastfeed twins. Tandem feeding positions, cushions that actually help, and a routine that leaves you a little time to eat and sleep.

And if it's a newborn plus a toddler at home, we'll plan for that too. Older siblings have feelings about feeding time!

Low supply & relactation

Maybe your milk never quite came in, or it dropped after an illness, time apart or a switch to formula. In many cases supply can be built back up, sometimes all the way, sometimes partly.

We'll look at the reasons behind it and make a step-by-step plan, with honest expectations from day one.

Growth monitoring

One weight on its own tells you very little. Tracking weight, length and feeding over weeks shows the real picture, so small concerns are caught early and you're not left wondering.

I plot your baby's growth on standard charts and explain what the numbers actually mean.

Child nutrition & first foods

Starting solids at around six months, what to offer first, how much, and what to avoid. Plus fussy eating, iron and weight worries in older babies and toddlers.

I'm a nutritionist as well, so we can also look at what you're eating while breastfeeding.

Hospital staff training

Practical lactation training for nurses and maternity teams: supporting the first feed, helping mothers after a C-section, expressing for NICU babies, and spotting when a mother needs specialist help.

Sessions are tailored to your unit. Get in touch to discuss.

Before & after birth

One session in late pregnancy can make those first days far less overwhelming. We'll cover what to expect, what's normal, and when to ask for help.

After birth, I can see you in hospital or at home, or on a video call.

Common breastfeeding problems

What mothers usually come to me with

If one of these sounds like you, you're far from alone. Most of them get better with the right help, and the sooner, the easier.

Latching problems

Baby slips off, clicks, falls asleep at once or won't take the breast. We work on position and a deeper latch. Latch guide

Low milk supply

Worried there isn't enough? First we check whether supply is really low, then build it with feeding, expressing and nutrition.

Sore & cracked nipples

Pain through the whole feed isn't normal. We find the cause so you can heal. Read more

Engorgement

Hard, painful breasts around day 3–5, or when feeds are missed. Practical ways to soften and relieve them.

Blocked ducts & mastitis

A tender lump, or a hot red area with fever. I help with feeding and drainage, alongside your doctor's treatment.

Flat or inverted nipples

Babies breastfeed, not nipple-feed. Positions and techniques that make latching easier.

Tongue tie

A full feeding assessment. If a tie seems to be affecting feeds, I'll explain the options and refer you to a specialist.

Baby not gaining weight

We look at feeding, milk transfer and growth charts together, and make a plan alongside your paediatrician.

Breast refusal & bottle preference

Moving a baby from bottle back to breast, or through a nursing strike, gently and patiently.

Pumping & back to work

Choosing and using a breast pump, building a milk stash, and a plan for when you return to the office.

Positions & C-section recovery

Comfortable holds that protect your scar and your back. Positions guide

Weaning

When you're ready to stop, a gentle, gradual plan that's comfortable for you and your baby.

Questions

About my lactation services

What does a lactation consultant do?

A lactation consultant helps with breastfeeding: latching, milk supply, pain, expressing and pumping, and feeding babies with extra needs, such as premature babies or twins. As an IBCLC, I hold the international certification in lactation, and as a nutritionist I also help with your diet and your baby's first foods.

Where are you based in Mumbai?

My practice is at Oberoi Maxima on JVLR, Jogeshwari East, close to Andheri, Goregaon and Powai. I also see mothers in hospital, and online anywhere in India or abroad. Areas I serve

Can you help with low milk supply online?

Yes. Most supply problems can be assessed on a video call: I'll ask about feeds, nappies and weight, and watch a feed on camera. How online consultations work

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral needed. You can book directly. If something needs medical attention, I'll tell you and work alongside your paediatrician or gynaecologist.

Why growth monitoring matters: tracking growth, healthy weight gain and early detection
Why growth checks matter

Small checks, big peace of mind

Regular growth monitoring helps catch feeding problems before they become big ones. It also gives you something solid to hold on to when well-meaning relatives say the baby looks "too thin".

  • Tracks growth over time, not just one weigh-in
  • Makes sure weight gain is healthy and steady
  • Spots problems early, while they're easy to fix
  • Supports your child's overall development
Not sure where to start?

Tell me what's happening. I'll suggest the next step.

A quick message is enough. I'll let you know if a consultation would help, and which kind.
